The opportunity


Reports to the IT infrastructure Manager, this position is focused on ensuring that all areas of Database operation function smoothly. This position includes rotational weekend support and after/before standard office hours to ensure department coverage (7am/7pm).


The role


  • To provide support of Oracle/ SQL server/Cloud DB(Snowflake/Azure) management technology and its deployment/usage standards.
  • To support and maintain SQL scripts for Store Procedure and Database maintenance tasks.
  • To assist BI and development team database design, and SQL script creation/tuning.
  • To ensure that all Database environmental changes are appropriately tested and implemented in such a manner that there is no impact to integrated systems and clients.
  • To provide and maintain all Database documentation
  • Maintain Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Maintain new and existing user profiles.
  • Maintain SOX Security Documentation.
  • Setup and configure all new Database.
  • Maintain, install, and upgrade Database patches.
  • Provide client services resolving issues and enhancement requests as they arise.
  • Performance tuning and troubleshoot database system including index/memory/cpu/space analysing.
  • Document all procedures in the operations folders. Include screen prints where applicable. Ensure that when a procedure changes that the documentation is updated in a reasonable fashion.
  • Organize and maintain software license inventories.
  • Enforce physical and network security policy.
  • Assist in maintenance and client setup of remote Database access connections.
  • Research projects as requested by the Infrastructure manager of IT.
  • Make recommendations, based on research and solution comparison for new technology acquisitions and enhancements.
  • Assist in the effective communication of upcoming planned and unplanned systems changes to users.
  • This position includes rotational and on call support to ensure departmental coverage outside of normal business hours including weekends.
  • Can also be broken down into areas if the role requires it as follows
  • Collaborate closely with the other Database Administrators and the other Infrastructure teams
  • Interact with team members at International sites relative to remote servers


The requirement


Knowledge & Professional Experience

  • At least Bachelor degree in Science from a reputed public or private university with a maximum of 05 years of experience.


Attributes

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge on Oracle and SQL servers.
  • Strong knowledge on Database Cloud solution.
  • Azure cloud solution will be an asset.
  • Good crisis management, self-control and stress management skills.
  • Capacity to understand and evaluate priorities and urgencies.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills with a desire to collaborate with hiring manager and stakeholders.
  • An open-minded professional with a positive attitude, manner and behavior.
  • Have the ability to adapt to a changing environment in a professional and impactful way.
  • Work under pressure and potentially to take on the challenge of performing the job.
