Data Strategist

Role Data Strategist

Reporting to VP Creative Strategy

Type Full-Time

Location Worli, Mumbai (Hybrid)

THE KIND OF WORK YOU'LL SHAPE

Most data work at agencies sits in a folder. Performance reports, listening studies, platform decks. Filed, forgotten, occasionally cited. The work you'll shape here is the opposite: data that actually moves what creative does next, what clients decide, and what Kulfi builds for itself.

THE ROLE

The Data Strategist leads the Analysis block, which are two tracks, and both carry equal weight.

The analytical practice: owning reporting across retainer accounts, running social listening, and doing platform research that shapes how strategy teams and clients think. The output should influence creative direction and client conversations.

The product track: working with Engineering and the KulfiOS Transformation team to productise the function. You’ll design automated workflows that take the manual effort out of recurring analysis, and drive adoption across Kulfi’s teams. Over time, these become part of what we offer clients.

WHAT YOU'LL DRIVE

Platform research and strategy

  • Maintain a working understanding of platform and search dynamics across Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and emerging channels: how formats, algorithms, and audiences are shifting
  • Contribute to pitch work when the brief calls for a data-backed audience or platform narrative
  • Work with Strategy leads to ground creative briefs in platform and audience data with enough specificity to shape output

Reporting and Listening

  • Own performance reports for key retainer accounts across organic social, paid, creator content, and always-on activity
  • Design and run listening studies across brand, category, creator, and audience conversation
  • Define how each account measures success: the metrics, the benchmarks, the reporting cadence
  • Set up the queries and categories that define what you're tracking. For accounts that need it, follow how conversations shift over months, not just a single moment
  • Move from data to strategy. Reports and studies should land with a clear point of view on what happened, what drove it, and what to do next
  • Deliver outputs in brief-ready form, not raw data dumps

KulfiOS product track

  • Own the Analysis function’s product roadmap alongside Engineering and the KulfiOS Transformation team. Current builds: Social Reporting Dashboard, Listening Reports, Campaign Reports
  • Set requirements, review outputs, sign off on what ships. Engineering builds it
  • Drive adoption inside Kulfi across Strategy, Creative, and Account teams. A tool that sits unused has not been built
  • Grow the block over time, including hiring the Data Associate who will support this function

WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT

  • You’re leading a function, the shape of the Analysis block over the next two years is yours to define
  • The product you build internally becomes client offering over time
  • You’ll work directly with VP Creative Strategy, Strategy leads, and clients, often on different briefs at the same time

WHO YOU ARE

  • 4-6 years in data strategy, analytics, or insights at a creative agency, media company, or platform
  • Range across reporting, social listening, and platform research. You own all three without treating any as someone else’s job
  • Fluent with social listening tools (Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Talkwalker, or equivalents) and platform analytics across Meta Ads, YouTube, and Instagram
  • Can build a measurement approach from scratch: the right metrics, benchmarks, and the narrative that makes the data usable
  • Have presented data-backed findings in a client room without a strategist needing to translate
  • Genuine interest in building tools, not just using them. Know what can be automated and what cannot
  • Moving from a data set to a crisp strategic recommendation is the core skill of this role
  • You follow a brief to a finished output, not just surface signals and wait to be directed

BEFORE YOU APPLY

This role is for someone who treats data as material for decisions, not a deliverable. If your experience skews dashboards-that-get-filed or studies-that-stop-at-the-insight, this probably isn’t the right fit yet.

It’s a great fit if:

  • You can point to a report or study that actually changed what a team or client did next
  • You’ve pushed for automation in your current setup, not waited for it to arrive
