Data Scientist

Overview

As a Data Scientist, you will be a part of Cactus Labs which is the R&D Cell of Cactus Communications. Cactus Labs is a high impact cell that works to solve complex technical and business problems that help keep us strategically competitive in the industry. We are a multi cultural team spread across multiple countries. We work in the domain of AI/ML especially with Generative AI (Text, Images, Audio), Language Understanding, Explainable AI, Big Data, Operations (MLOps, DevOps) etc.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy NLP, LLM, and GenAI solutions for real-world, large-scale applications.
• Build, fine-tune, evaluate, and productionize LLMs and Generative AI components.
• Work closely with linguists, editors, developers, and AI engineers to achieve project goals.
• Use toolkits like SpaCy, CoreNLP, HuggingFace, LangChain, and vector databases to deliver high-performing solutions.
• Conduct data analysis, experimentation, benchmarking, and apply latest research to improve models and product quality.
• Own end-to-end project execution—from requirements to design, development, testing, and documentation.
• Drive projects independently, managing deadlines and rapidly testing/deploying promising approaches.
  
  

Qualifications And Prerequisites

• 4+ years of experience with Python
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in building NLP and LLM based systems from scratch using various NLP frameworks/tools
• Understanding of linguistic concepts like Part of Speech, Name Entity Recognition, Dependency Parsing, Parsing, Shallow Parsing and so on
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to design and execute on research idea
• Experience implementing deep learning techniques to solve language challenges
• Experience with AWS cloud is a plus

Our selection process typically involves an initial screening by a recruiter, a technical assessment, and two to three interview rounds. For this role, the process involves 2 rounds of technical interview with the Hiring Managers, followed by an interview with the HR Business Partner.
