Job Description: Data Privacy & IT Law Consultant (Project-Based)


Role Summary

One of our client is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data Privacy & IT Law Consultant to join our growing team on a project-specific basis. This role is ideal for a legal professional with 3-5 years of experience who thrives in a dynamic startup environment and can deliver high-quality, actionable advice tailored to client needs. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to client engagements focused on the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and broader IT law compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting detailed data privacy impact assessments and gap analyses for diverse client operations.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and updating privacy policies, terms of service, consent frameworks, internal standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data processing agreements.
  • Providing expert legal advice on compliance with the DPDP Act, Information Technology Act, 2000, and other relevant Indian IT and data protection laws.
  • Supporting data mapping initiatives and analyzing data flows to identify regulatory risks and compliance requirements.
  • Researching emerging trends and legal developments in data privacy, cybersecurity, and IT law.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of client workshops, training sessions, and presentations.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal legal, technical, and client teams to ensure integrated and practical solutions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Master of Laws (LLM) from a reputable institution.
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience specifically in data privacy, IT law, and regulatory compliance within India.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and its implications. Familiarity with global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) is a plus.
  • Exceptional legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to draft clear, concise, and legally sound documents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple project deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
