Role Summary: We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Administrator with deep expertise in Snowflake and Apache Airflow to lead the administration, optimization, and scalability of our enterprise data platform. This role requires hands-on experience managing petabyte-scale data environments, multiple Snowflake accounts, and mission‑critical analytics and AI/ML workloads. The Senior Data Platform Administrator will serve as a technical leader and platform owner, responsible for performance tuning, reliability, cost optimization, security posture, and operational excellence across Snowflake, Airflow (AWS MWAA), and supporting AWS infrastructure. You will partner closely with data engineering, analytics, and data science teams to ensure the platform reliably supports both analytical and AI/ML use cases at scale.Responsibilities: Platform Ownership & Scale Own the end‑to‑end health, performance, and reliability of the enterprise data platform. Administer and operate petabyte‑scale Snowflake environments across multiple accounts and regions. Design and manage multi‑account Snowflake architectures, including environment isolation, data sharing, and governance models. Act as senior escalation point for complex platform incidents and performance issues. Performance Tuning & Cost Optimization Lead Snowflake performance tuning initiatives, including:Warehouse sizing and auto-scaling strategies Query optimization and execution plan analysis Data clustering, partitioning, and large-table strategies Monitor and optimize warehouse utilization, credit consumption, and platform costs. Continuously improve performance of high‑volume pipelines and analytical workloads. Airflow & Orchestration Administer and optimize Apache Airflow environments (AWS MWAA or self‑managed). Ensure DAG reliability, scheduler stability, and SLA compliance for large‑scale workflows. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to dependencies, retries, backfills, and executor behavior. Monitor Airflow performance, logs, and resource usage for high‑throughput pipelines. AI/ML & Advanced Analytics Enablement Enable production‑grade AI/ML and advanced analytics workloads by ensuring scalable, performant, and secure data pipelines and platforms. Operationalize Snowflake Intelligence and Snowflake Cortex to support AI‑driven analytics, feature engineering, and model inference at enterprise scale. Partner with data science and analytics teams to ensure data readiness, performance optimization, and reliability across training, experimentation, and inference workflows. Automation & Engineering Excellence Design and develop Python‑based automation for:Deployments and environment promotions Monitoring, alerts, and health checks Operational tooling and self‑service capabilities Write and optimize SQL for large‑scale analytics, validation, and troubleshooting. Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for data platform and workflow deployments. Security, Governance & Operations Lead Snowflake user, role, and permission management using least‑privilege and compliance‑driven patterns. Ensure Airflow connections, variables, secrets, and dependencies are securely managed. Use Linux/Unix systems for operational support, log analysis, and root‑cause investigations. Work closely with engineering and cloud teams to continuously improve platform resilience and observability. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in data platform administration or data infrastructure operations. Advanced, hands on expertise in Snowflake administration at scale, including:Multi account environments Petabyte scale datasets Performance tuning and cost optimization Strong experience administering Apache Airflow / AWS MWAA in production environments. Proven experience supporting large scale analytics and AI/ML data workloads. Expert level SQL for troubleshooting and performance optimization. Strong Python scripting skills for automation and operational tooling. Solid experience with Linux/Unix environments and system level troubleshooting. Experience with AWS services including S3, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, and EC2. Experience implementing or supporting CI/CD pipelines for data platforms. Snowflake Certifications preferred, including:Snowflake SnowPro Core Snowflake SnowPro Advanced (Administrator, Architect, or Data Engineer) Travel: This position is not remote.
