Job Description
Role Overview
We are looking for experienced Data Operations Engineers to join a fully managed service team who is responsible for business-critical data pipelines and reporting systems for a leading financial institution. This role ensures zero disruption to executive reporting while maintaining and enhancing legacy data operations during a strategic transition to AWS.
You will work in a production support environment, responsible for first-line monitoring, incident triage, and quick fixes for critical data pipelines and reporting systems. Acts as the frontline responder to ensure data availability for executive dashboards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage ETL pipelines (SSIS, SQL, Python) and ensure timely data availability for executive reporting
- Troubleshoot and resolve job failures, data quality issues, and infrastructure-related incidents
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement fixes for recurring issues
- Collaborate with analytics teams to integrate queries into automated pipelines
- Maintain and update runbooks, documentation, and operational dashboards
- Support on-prem Windows server environments and manage scheduled jobs
- Participate in incident management, prioritization, and escalation processes
- Working 24x7 shifts
- ETL Tools: SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) – strong hands-on experience
- Database Technologies: SQL Server, Teradata – advanced query optimization and troubleshooting
- Programming: Basic to intermediate Python – scripting for data handling
- Production Support Expertise: Incident management, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a 24x7 or critical reporting environment
- Tableau Knowledge: Understanding of data extracts, refresh schedules, and integration with pipelines
- Cloud Exposure: AWS fundamentals (S3, EC2, Glue) – readiness for future migration
- DevSecOps Mindset: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and secure coding practices
- Automation Tools: Experience with job orchestration tools (Control-M, Airflow) or custom scripts
- Windows Server Administration: Basic SRE skills / knowledge for patching, job scheduling, and resource monitoring
