Data Engineer

Backed by Mahindra & Mahindra, Carnot works closely with farmers, fleet operators, and agri-businesses to bring technology-driven insights into day-to-day operations.

Role Description

• Build data pipelines for satellite imagery, weather data, farm/parcel data, crop metadata, and historical records.
• Run Python experiments for crop monitoring, sugar content, yield, and harvest detection.
• Build and improve regular / ML models using geospatial, weather, and time-series data.
• Take experiments from notebooks/scripts to production pipelines, APIs, or scheduled jobs.
• Work with GitHub, cloud infra, databases, and AI coding tools like Codex / Claude / ChatGPT / Cursor.
• Think from first principles and explain your approach clearly — whiteboard optional, clarity mandatory.

We’re looking for someone who

• Is strong in Python.

• Is comfortable with Pandas / NumPy / data wrangling

• Has worked with GitHub and collaborative coding workflows.

• Has experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS / GCP / Azure

• Has familiarity with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, S3/GCS, or similar data systems

• Understands basic ML/modeling workflows: features, training, evaluation, debugging, iteration.

• Can use AI tools thoughtfully to improve, test, debug, and accelerate their own work.

• Enjoys solving ambiguous problems where the data is not clean and the answer is not obvious.
