Costing & Estimation Engineer – Steel Processing Equipment

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Costing & Estimation Engineer to join our team at Yogiji Digi. The core of this role is preparing techno-commercial offers — you will own the end-to-end process of translating engineering designs into detailed cost estimates, budgets, and competitive, margin-aware proposals for our domestic and international customers.

The company has a modern, high-precision CNC machining and manufacturing facility in Palwal, Haryana. The focus has been on producing import substitutes such as Mill Housings, Tension Reels, Coil Coaters etc. in house and has contributed to the cause of Self-Reliant India (आत्मनिर्भर भारत). The company has also expanded its portfolio to include the design and manufacturing of energy efficient high-end Non-Ox Furnaces and Baking Ovens for metal coating lines.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual will own the costing and techno-commercial offer function, working between engineering and commercial teams to deliver accurate, competitive proposals.

• Prepare complete techno-commercial offers and quotations for domestic and international customers — combining technical scope, pricing, terms, and delivery into winning proposals.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for steel processing lines and sub-systems (mechanical, electrical, automation).
• Break down BOMs, bought-out items, fabrication, and labor into structured costing sheets.
• Coordinate with design, procurement, and vendors to firm up pricing and delivery inputs.
• Track cost variances between estimate and actuals; maintain and update a rate/cost database.
• Support pricing strategy, margin analysis, and negotiation for tenders and bids.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, procurement, and product owners.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Three to six years of hands-on experience in costing/estimation and techno-commercial offer preparation for capital equipment, heavy machinery, or industrial plant.
• A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Production/Industrial Engineering.
• Proven ability to build techno-commercial proposals — mapping technical scope to costs, terms, and pricing.
• Strong grasp of manufacturing processes, fabrication, and BOM structures.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Advanced Excel proficiency; strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Experience with international quotations (Incoterms, currency, export costing) preferred.
• Steel/metals sector experience strongly preferred.
• ERP experience (SAP or similar) preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and a team player.
