Job Purpose:
Responsible for day-to-day cost tracking, cost control, and reporting for drilling and well operations. Ensures accurate cost visibility, timely reporting, and financial discipline at the site and well levels to support effective cost management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track daily drilling and well costs against approved budgets and expenditure limits, identifying variances and cost risks.
- Maintain well-level cost trackers, cost codes, and work breakdown structures to ensure accurate cost capture and allocation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports, forecasts, and commitment summaries.
- Support the preparation, updates, and revisions of expenditure approvals and cost estimates as drilling programs progress.
- Review contractor and service company invoices against work orders, field tickets, and agreed rate schedules, and flag discrepancies for resolution.
- Coordinate with site teams, drilling engineers, procurement, and finance to ensure timely cost booking, accruals, and month-end closure.
- Monitor cost drivers for non-productive time, rig downtime, logistics delays, and material consumption, and quantify cost impacts.
- Maintain cost documentation and records to support audits, reviews, and management reporting.
- Capture cost-related lessons learned and support improvements in cost tracking and reporting practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Petroleum or Mechanical, or a related technical discipline.
- 3–8 years of experience in cost engineering, cost control, or project controls, preferably in the oil and gas or downstream industry.
- Working knowledge of drilling cost structures, daily cost reporting, and expenditure tracking.
- Experience using enterprise systems, cost tracking tools, and advanced spreadsheet-based analysis.
- Ability to work closely with field teams and multiple stakeholders in an operational environment.
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and structured reporting capability.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to highlight cost issues in a timely and factual manner.
- Willingness to travel to project and operating sites as per business requirements, with flexibility for relocation if needed.
