Job Description: Offshore Structural Designer (Oil & Gas)

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Offshore Structural Designer to join our team in Chennai. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, modeling, and detailing heavy offshore steel structures (topside modules, jackets, decks, primary/secondary steel, and sea-fastening structures). You will act as a key link between engineering concepts and yard construction, ensuring all fabrication drawings are highly accurate, clash-free, and optimized for shop-floor construction.

Positions are open across multiple levels (Designer to Principal/Lead Designer) depending on your years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling & Detailing: Create and modify complex 3D models and extraction of 2D fabrication drawings for offshore jackets, topsides, and appurtenances.
• Fabrication Deliverables: Generate accurate Material Take-Offs (MTOs), cutting plans, Bill of Materials (BOM), and shop drawings.
• Clash Resolution: Conduct multi-disciplinary model reviews to identify and resolve spatial clashes with piping, E&I, and mechanical layouts.
• Construction Support: Support the fabrication yard by quickly resolving technical drafting issues, clarifying drawing details, and incorporating "as-built" modifications.
• Quality & Standards: Ensure all design deliverables comply with international offshore codes (AISC, AWS D1.1), company standards, and project specifications.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, ITI Draftsmanship, or equivalent.
• Experience: 5 to 20 years of solid design and detailing experience specifically within the Offshore Oil & Gas sector.
• Software Expertise: Proficiency in 3D modeling and detailing software is mandatory. Experience in at least one or more of the following:
• AVEVA E3D / PDMS (Structural modules)
• Tekla Structures (Steel detailing)
• AutoCAD 2D/3D
• Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of offshore fabrication practices, structural connection details, and weld symbols.
