Job Summary

The Sr. Construction Coordinator (CC) will be responsible for the home office construction coordination on assigned projects, which includes constructability reviews, safety in design, value engineering, and providing construction’s input to engineering and procurement teams to improve Total Installed Cost (TIC) on the projects, inputs to maximizing modularization and preassemblies. Advise engineering of latest construction technology, local practices/preferences to save cost, time on the project and provide easy to build and economical design solutions. Support construction management activities such as preconstruction planning, execution strategies for large and complexes Data Center and high end industrial facilities type projects.

The Sr. CC serves as a vital link between Construction and other project functions like Engineering, Procurement, Contracts and Project Controls; the CC ensures that Construction requirements are communicated to the project team and project team receives Construction’s input in a timely manner.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project-specific constructability programs and plans in collaboration with project and GBU construction teams.
  • Represent the Construction function in model reviews, constructability workshops, and project progress review meetings.
  • Provide constructability, modularization, preassembly, and safe construction inputs during design development using lessons learned and best practices.
  • Support technical bid evaluations, contractor/vendor queries, and construction-related procurement activities.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables align with construction schedules and review interdisciplinary deliverables from a constructability, safety, and Total Installed Cost (TIC) perspective.Identify risks, cost-saving opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize construction execution and productivity.
  • Coordinate constructability reviews of vendor drawings, fabrication details, construction procedures, and engineering data within construction applications.
  • Implement Design for Safe Construction, Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), work packaging strategies, installation/test packages, and material take-offs.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across Bechtel offices and jobsites, incorporating lessons learned and construction innovations.
  • Support proposal development, project planning, construction scheduling, manpower/equipment planning, execution strategies, construction manuals, and automation initiatives.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Typically requires bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum 15 years of relevant experience, or 20 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Proven construction experience on large Data Center, special industry type projects is mandatory.
  • Experience in PMC and Construction Management leadership role is mandatory.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with multiple nationalities.
  • Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to the discipline interfacing with all areas.
  • Prior experience working in a field engineering or field supervision position in an organization supporting direct-hire work /subcontract is preferred.
  • Experience of Advance work packaging (AWP) process is desired.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Prior experience in project early works, Temporary Construction Facilities development, Site set-up.
  • Prior experience with using tools and software’s related to Construction planning, proposals, execution, and monitoring is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international job sites on short-term or long-term assignments.
