Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in New Delhi for a General Manager of Conference & Event Operations. The General Manager will oversee event planning and management, ensuring high-quality service delivery for clients. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics, managing event budgets, maintaining strong client relationships, and leading a team to execute successful conferences and events. The role requires a strategic leader who can drive customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Position Overview
The General Manager – Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, profitability, scalability, and execution quality across all events and business verticals. This role owns P&L performance, operational systems, large-scale event delivery, risk management, and leadership of cross-functional teams.
The GM – Operations ensures the company consistently delivers high-impact events while maintaining strong margins, operational discipline, and client satisfaction.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & KPIs
1. Financial Performance & Profitability
Ownership: Full operational P&L
KPIs:
- Gross profit margin per event (%)
- Net operating margin (%)
- Budget variance (Planned vs. Actual ≤ X%)
- Cost optimization targets achieved (%)
- Revenue-to-operational-cost ratio
2. Event Delivery Excellence
Ownership: End-to-end execution quality
KPIs:
- % of events delivered on time (Target: 100%)
- % of events delivered within approved budget (Target: ≥ 95%)
- Client satisfaction score (CSAT ≥ 90%)
- Repeat client rate (%)
- Escalation rate per event
3. Operational Efficiency & Scalability
Ownership: Systems, SOPs, process improvement
KPIs:
- SOP compliance rate (%)
- Resource utilization rate (%)
- Operational turnaround time reduction (%)
- Productivity per project manager
- Technology adoption rate (event software, ERP, CRM integration)
4. Vendor & Supply Chain Management
Ownership: Vendor performance and commercial negotiations
KPIs:
- Vendor cost savings achieved annually (%)
- Preferred vendor retention rate (%)
- Vendor performance scorecards
- Contract compliance rate
5. Team Leadership & Organizational Health
Ownership: Operations team structure and capability

Ownership: Operational risk and regulatory compliance

Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a 3–5 year operational growth roadmap
- Scale operations to handle large-format and multi-city events
- Align operations with sales targets and revenue growth plans
- Drive innovation in event production, logistics, and technology
- Represent operations in board-level discussions
Qualifications & Experience
- 12+ years in Event Management / Experiential Marketing / Hospitality
- Minimum 5–7 years in senior operational leadership role
- Demonstrated ownership of P&L exceeding [Insert Revenue Size]
- Experience managing large-scale corporate, entertainment, or government events
- MBA or equivalent preferred
