Job Description

InCommon is hiring on behalf of Altair.

About the Company

Altair Infrasec Pvt. Ltd. is a deep-tech defence company building mission-critical systems for the Indian Armed Forces. Operating at the intersection of advanced engineering and real-world deployment, Altair develops end-to-end technologies across AI/ML, signal processing, aerospace, electronics, and systems engineering. With a strong focus on in-house capability and technical ownership, the team works on high-impact programs spanning naval, army, and air force applications—delivering complex, combat-relevant systems with speed and precision.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Computer Vision & Tracking Engineer to lead the development of our front-end optical pipeline. This role is critical for transforming raw imagery from high-performance sensors into reliable, localized features for downstream spatial analysis. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of image acquisition, from sensor calibration to robust object tracking in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Image Processing & Enhancement: Develop and implement algorithms for denoising, filtering, thresholding, and contrast enhancement for low-light and high-noise imagery.
  • Feature Detection: Design robust methods for point source detection and sub-pixel centroid estimation to achieve high-precision feature localization.
  • Camera & Lens Calibration: Perform intrinsic and extrinsic camera calibration, including lens distortion correction and optical compensation models.
  • Pattern Recognition: Implement geometric and pattern-based matching algorithms to identify detected features against reference datasets, even with partial field-of-view or incomplete data.
  • Tracking & Motion Segmentation: Develop background subtraction and motion segmentation techniques to detect and track moving objects in sequential video streams.
  • Resilience & Recovery: Design "lost-and-recovery" logic to handle interrupted tracking and mitigate false positives or outliers.

Technical Qualifications

  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Libraries: Extensive experience with OpenCV or equivalent high-performance image processing libraries.
  • Deployment: Proven ability to optimize algorithms for real-time execution and deployment on embedded or constrained systems.
