Job Description
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage all commercial, contractual, and claims-related aspects of construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency, risk mitigation, and contractual compliance. The role safeguards project profitability by overseeing variations, claims, contract administration, and strengthening governance between site teams, contractors, consultants, and corporate functions.
Principal Accountabilities:
Variations & Change Management
Assess and value variations, change orders, and additional works.
Ensure accurate documentation, approvals, and compliance with contractual procedures.
Claims & Contract Management
Manage the claims process, including assessment, negotiation, and resolution of disputes.
Coordinate effectively between site teams, contractors, and Head Office Contracts team.
Liaise with legal teams on complex contractual matters, ensuring all parties clearly understand their rights and obligations.
Project Commercial Governance
Conduct project kick-off meetings to align stakeholders on commercial terms, scope, and responsibilities.
Support project teams with contractual and commercial guidance throughout the project lifecycle
Performance Measure of Success:
Accuracy and timeliness in evaluating variations and change orders
Effective negotiation outcomes reducing variation costs and commercial risk
Claims resolution efficiency — speed, quality of assessment, and reduced disputes
Compliance levels with contract terms and commercial processes
Quality and clarity of commercial governance at project initiation
Minimal escalations due to commercial oversight or contractual misinterpretation
Quality of coordination between site, HO Contracts, Legal, and contractors
Contribution to cost savings and risk mitigation
Functional Competencies:
Strong understanding of contracts (FIDIC or equivalent), commercial terms, and construction industry practices
Expertise in variation assessment, claims management, and contractual negotiation
Ability to interpret contract clauses, risk implications, and legal positions
Proficient in cost control, billing processes, and BOQ analysis
Documentation and analytical skills
Strong command over MS Excel, cost tools, and contract documentation systems
Qualification Experience
B.E./B.Tech in Civil 7-9+ years in real estate/infrastructure project
