Wells Fargo is seeking a Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager
In This Role, You Will
- Research complex credit investigations and diverse credit information for loans
- Identify opportunity for process improvements within scope of responsibilities or functional area
- Review and identify basic operational assignments that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives while exercising independent judgement to guide medium risk deliverables
- Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise in the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders including internal as well as external customers
- 2+ years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Perform end-to-end regulatory and quality reviews of commercial credit underwriting files in line with internal policies, regulatory standards, and supervisory expectations.
- Validate financial analysis, risk ratings, covenant structures, and overall credit decisioning for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
- Assess adherence to credit policy, underwriting standards, and regulatory guidance, identifying deviations, control gaps, and emerging risk themes.
- Document clear, well-supported risk findings, including root cause analysis, impact assessment, and linkage to applicable policies or regulations.
- Support defect remediation efforts by partnering with business, credit execution, and quality teams to drive timely and sustainable corrective actions.
- Contribute to risk reporting and governance forums by summarizing review outcomes, trends, and systemic issues for management consumption.
- Maintain strong audit-ready documentation and ensure reviews are executed within defined SLAs and quality thresholds.
- Post-graduate qualification in Finance, Banking, Economics, or Accounting, or equivalent (MBA, CA, CMA, or similar).
- 2+ years of commercial credit experience across diversified asset classes.
- Strong ability to interpret credit policies and procedures and translate them into clear, system-enabled execution guidance for business users.
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues related to credit workflows, data capture, and system navigation.
- Proven capability to synthesize information from multiple sources (policies, procedures, borrower data, system outputs) into clear, structured responses or templates.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to explain complex credit or system concepts clearly and concisely.
- Understanding and Application of AI Tools: Ability to leverage AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Tachyon) for routine tasks such as summarizing information, drafting content, and analyzing data, while maintaining human oversight.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to interpret AI outputs, validate insights, and make informed business decisions.
- Responsible AI Use: Awareness of ethical considerations, data privacy, and compliance when using AI solutions.
- Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Commitment to upskilling and staying current with emerging technologies.
