Your Role And Responsibilities

The IBM Cloud Data Services teams are responsible for developing and operating the Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings that provide Data Services in IBM Cloud.

Responsibilities

As a Cloud Software Engineer, you will design, develop, test, and deliver offerings using leading-edge and/or proven technologies. You will work in an Agile, collaborative environment to understand stakeholder requirements and contribute to the development of innovative software solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Develop Component-Level Solutions: Design, code, and test innovative component-level software solutions, ensuring that the implemented solutions are unit tested and ready to be integrated into their product.
• Contribute to CI/CD Pipeline: Contribute to the automated CI/CD pipeline that takes code through various quality stages, ensuring seamless integration and delivery.
• Debug Customer-Reported Problems: Design, develop, and unit test code fixes for customer-reported problems, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
• Deliver Offerings: Deliver offerings using leading-edge and/or proven technologies, working closely with stakeholders to meet requirements and expectations.
• Collaborate in Agile Environment: Work in an Agile, collaborative environment to understand stakeholder requirements, aligning with team goals and objectives.
  
  

We are a "You build it, You run it" culture. As a developer, you will join our follow-the-sun rotation where you will be the primary responder for automated system alerts. You will also join the out-of-hours on-call rota to support the service outside of daily business hours and over the weekend.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Exposure to Back-End Development: Experience working with back-end development technologies, designing, developing, testing, and delivering offerings using leading-edge and/or proven technologies.
• Component-Level Solution Development: Exposure to designing, coding, and testing innovative component-level software solutions, ensuring unit testing and readiness for integration into products.
• DevOps Engineering: Experience working with DevOps engineering principles, contributing to the automated CI/CD pipeline, and ensuring seamless integration and delivery.
• Debugging and Problem-Solving: Exposure to debugging customer-reported problems, designing, developing, and unit testing code fixes, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
• Agile Environment Collaboration: Experience working in an Agile, collaborative environment, understanding stakeholder requirements, and aligning with team goals and objectives.
• This roles requires the candidate to have fluent written and spoken English.

• Database and Kafka skills: Experience developing applications or as a system admin for Apache Kafka and databases such as MongoDB, CouchDB, Postgresql
