Job Description

The Claims Advocate delivers “Claims Advocacy” by approaching claims from the client’s perspective and ensuring exceptional service throughout the claim’s lifecycle. Under the direction of the Vice President of Claims, this role analyzes, reviews, and supports the adjustment of commercial property and casualty claims, including complex bodily injury and property damage matters. The Claims Advocate investigates claims, evaluates liability and damages, negotiates resolutions, and collaborates with insurance carriers and defense counsel to help expedite settlements and control loss and litigation costs. This position also serves as a trusted resource to clients and internal teams by providing guidance, insight, and advocacy throughout the claims process.




OBJECTIVES AND ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide professional advice, counsel, and guidance under the direction of the Vice President of Claims in the area of all insurance claims.
  • Act as an advocate for clients and serve as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to support effective claims resolution.
  • Oversee large loss claims and complex client accounts, advocating for clients in coverage, liability, and property disputes
  • Assist with loss analysis, risk analysis, and claims data reporting, including the preparation, analysis, and presentation of claims data for Risk Management client reviews.
  • Prepare Workers’ Compensation Experience Modification Factor evaluations as needed and maintain insurance carrier production records.
  • Deliver exceptional, value-added service and consultation while building and maintaining strong client relationships and partnerships.
  • Assist clients in defining their objectives and evaluate whether existing programs are meeting those objectives.
  • Assist Senior Risk Consultants in reviewing policies, contracts, riders, certificates, employee handbooks, and safety manuals to support client coverage decisions.
  • Maintain strong technical expertise in property and casualty insurance coverages, workers’ compensation laws, legal theory, and carrier claims processes.
  • Support the development of Claims Analysts while assisting with the execution of service plans and coordination with carriers and internal teams.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred

  • Minimum of 5+ years of claims experience within the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of complex coverage analysis and policy interpretation, with experience managing commercial property and casualty claims and analyzing claims data and loss trends to provide strategic insights to clients.
  • Experience collaborating with insurance carriers, adjusters, and defense counsel to advocate for clients and achieve favorable claim outcomes.
  • Exceptional client-centric mindset with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Experience preparing and presenting claims analysis and recommendations to clients.
  • Must hold an active Property & Casualty license or be willing to obtain licensure within the first three months of employment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 35%.
  • Insurance professional designations such as AIC, ARM, or CPCU preferred.
