Job Description: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Industry: Medical Education Technology (EdTech)

Reports to: CEO

Role Overview

The CTO will lead the technology vision and execution for a medical education platform, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that support learners, educators, institutions, and healthcare professionals globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with educational and business objectives

• Lead development of learning platforms, content delivery systems, assessment engines, and analytics tools

• Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and data security, especially for institutional and enterprise clients

• Oversee architecture across web, mobile, cloud, and data platforms

• Implement best practices for privacy, compliance, and data protection (FERPA, GDPR, HIPAA where applicable)

• Partner with Product, Academic, Content, and Instructional Design teams

• Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering and data teams

• Drive adoption of emerging technologies (AI-driven learning, adaptive assessments, simulations, AR/VR, LLMs)

• Manage third-party integrations (LMS, LXP, proctoring, credentialing, payments)

• Support platform analytics for learner engagement, outcomes, and performance insights Required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 10+ years of technology leadership experience, preferably in EdTech, HealthTech, or SaaS platforms • Strong experience building scalable learning or content platforms

• Expertise in cloud infrastructure, APIs, databases, and security best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with medical or healthcare education (UG, PG, CME, CPD)

• Exposure to AI-powered personalization or assessment technologies

• Experience scaling platforms for global or enterprise users
