Job Description

Project Research Staff - Chief Technology Officer (Drone/UAS)


About the project:

The projects, funded by the Governments, focus on developing and demonstrating drone/UAS and its allied technologies. The projects will also address various applications through the utilization of advanced technologies and critical infrastructure. Strong industry and end-user connections and collaborations will be fostered to solve pertinent challenges and drive technological advancements. Additionally, comprehensive drone/UAS training and awareness programs will be provided to ensure proficiency and understanding among people.

Qualification and Key Skills Required:

  • PhD with minimum 6 years relevant experience OR
  • MTech or equivalent degree with minimum 10 years relevant experience OR
  • BTech/MBA/MSc or equivalent degree with 12 years of experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in various drone/UAS technologies and platforms such as multirotor, fixed-wing, and VTOL, including research, development, design, development, testing, deployment as well as their critical sub-systems, like flight controllers, propulsion and communication systems, sensors, and software.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale projects, centers, or activities at higher or middle-level managerial positions. This includes overseeing the development, implementation, and successful completion of technical projects, in drone/UAS technology, aerospace, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, end-users and academic institutions, and to think outside the box to solve complex technological challenges.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and standards relevant to drone/UAS technology and aerospace sectors.


Job Profile:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all technical aspects of the drone/UAS missions, including research, development, design, testing, and deployment of drone ecosystem, ensuring they are completed on time within scope and budget.
  • Drive innovation in drone/UAS technology and applications, ensuring the projects remain at the forefront of the industries and end-users by integrating the latest advancements and research findings.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to achieve project goals, including facilitating technical collaborations with academic institutions, industry partners, end-users, government agencies and project teams.
  • Provide technical support for the creation of drone/UAS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies and standards, ensuring compliance with national and international regulations and standards.
  • Any other work assigned as per requirement.
