Job Description
The next President & Chief Executive Officer will lead NEBGC dba GNEMSDC at a pivotal moment in its evolution. The organization is stable, credible, and mission-driven, and it is expanding its operating model to respond to a broader and more complex business landscape.Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board of Directors, the President & CEO holds full accountability for the organization’s strategic direction, operational performance, financial stewardship, and programmatic impact. In close partnership with the Board, the President will strengthen regional and national influence while ensuring long-term sustainability and measurable economic outcomes.
While GNEMSDC’s historic focus has centered on convening corporate members and certified MBEs within the NMSDC affiliate framework, the organization is broadening its scope through the New England Business Growth Collective (NEBGC). This expanded platform is designed to serve a wider business ecosystem, recognizing that procurement access alone is insufficient to drive scalable enterprise growth.
The President will guide the organization beyond a traditional membership model toward a more diversified structure that includes capital access initiatives, growth advisory services, enterprise scaling strategies, and expanded public and private sector partnerships. The role requires preserving affiliate integrity while building new revenue pathways and impact channels. As the organization’s primary advocate and spokesperson, the President will represent NEBGC dba GNEMSDC with corporate executives, capital providers, government leaders, and business stakeholders. The President will also steward and navigate ongoing relationships with the National Minority Supplier Development Council, peer affiliate councils across the national network, and aligned NGO and institutional partners. Operating with broad authority within Board-established policies and NMSDC standards, the President will execute strategy, oversee financial and operational performance, lead the team, and cultivate high-value external relationships that advance regional and national impact.
The successful leader will combine strategic clarity with disciplined execution in a lean environment. This is an opportunity to steward a respected legacy organization while building a modern, growth-oriented enterprise development platform for the New England region.
Must - Haves Enterprise Leadership & Executive Influence: Demonstrated experience leading an enterprise with full accountability for strategy, financial and operational performance, and organizational health, alongside the executive communication capability to shape external perception, influence senior leaders across sectors, and advance the organization’s regional and national standing
Board Governance & Fiduciary Partnership: Demonstrated sophistication in CEO–Board dynamics, including strategic alignment, fiduciary responsibility, performance metric development, and transparent governance partnership. Ability to establish role clarity, engage constructively, and maintain accountability at the board level
Strategic Growth, Revenue Diversification & Entrepreneurial Mindset: Documented success designing and executing multi-year growth strategies that expand revenue, partnerships, and organizational impact. Demonstrates an entrepreneurial, forward-looking mindset, proactively identifying new market opportunities, modern engagement models, and sustainable revenue streams while reducing reliance on legacy structures
Financial Stewardship & Operational Discipline: Strong financial acumen with oversight of budgeting, cash flow, audits, compliance, and risk management. Experience strengthening operational infrastructure, systems, and accountability frameworks to ensure long-term sustainability and reputational integrity
Corporate & External Stakeholder Diplomacy: Executive-level credibility engaging corporate leaders, minority-owned enterprises, public officials, and community stakeholders. Ability to navigate politically and socially complex environments — including evolving supplier diversity and DEI landscapes, with maturity, strategic judgment, and resilience
Minority Business & Economic Development Acumen: Demonstrated expertise in minority business growth, supplier diversity ecosystems, and capital access frameworks, with the ability to align NEBGC dba GNEMSDC strategy to measurable regional economic impact
Organizational & Cultural Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build, align, and elevate high-performing teams; foster accountability and performance discipline; steward organizational culture through transition; and make decisive leadership decisions that advance mission, growth, and long-term effectiveness
