Role Overview:
A Chief Engineer in a Five Star Hotel in Hoshiarpur, Punjab is the head of the Engineering / Maintenance Department and is responsible for ensuring that the hotel’s physical plant, equipment, and systems operate safely, efficiently, and without disruption to guest service.

Main job purpose:

The Chief Engineer ensures the proper functioning and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire‑safety, and other technical systems in the hotel (including guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house, and grounds). They also lead the engineering team and coordinate with the General Manager, Housekeeping, F&B, and other departments to support smooth hotel operations.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee daily maintenance, repairs, and preventive‑maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, elevators, boilers, pumps, and other equipment.
• Manage engineering staff (hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews) and ensure adequate on‑shift coverage.
• Ensure compliance with safety, fire, energy‑efficiency, and health codes (fire alarms, emergency lights, extinguishers, lifts, swimming pools, etc.).
• Control maintenance budgets, inventory of spare parts, and work orders; keep records for audits and inspections.
• Respond to urgent breakdowns and guest complaints promptly, minimizing impact on the guest experience.

Typical skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical/MEP engineering.
• 8-10 years of experience in hotel or facility maintenance, preferably as Assistant Chief Engineer or Senior Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, fire‑safety norms, and building‑management best practices.
• Leadership, communication, and budget‑handling skills to deal with both technical staff and management.
