Role Description The coach will design and deliver engaging chess lessons for beginners to advanced players, including children, adults, and corporate participants, in individual and group formats. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, analyzing games, providing feedback on students’ strategies, and organizing practice sessions, tournaments, and internal events. The coach will track student progress, maintain training records, and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and abilities. The role also involves collaborating with other coaches, supporting academy initiatives, and representing SRCA at events and competitions as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong chess proficiency, with a solid understanding of openings, middlegame strategy, endgame techniques, and tournament practice; formal ratings or competitive experience are an advantage.
• Proven coaching or teaching skills, including lesson planning, group facilitation, and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, age-appropriate ways.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, encourage, and build confidence in learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to foster critical thinking, discipline, and emotional resilience in students through structured training and mentorship.
• Organizational skills to manage schedules, track student progress, coordinate events, and maintain a professional classroom or training environment.
