Backup Administrator (L2) - (Commvault | Backup & Recovery | Disaster Recovery)

About the Role -- We are looking for an experienced Commvault Backup Administrator (L2) with strong hands-on expertise in enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations. The ideal candidate should have experience managing large-scale Commvault environments and ensuring reliable backup and recovery across physical, virtual, database, and application workloads.

The role requires hands-on expertise in CommServe, Media Agents, Storage Policies, Deduplication Databases, backup monitoring, troubleshooting, disaster recovery, and infrastructure optimization.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Commvault backup infrastructure.
• Manage CommServe, Media Agents, backup clients, libraries, and storage policies.
• Configure backup schedules, retention policies, storage policies, and deduplication.
• Perform backup and recovery for Windows, Linux, VMware, Active Directory, databases, and file systems.
• Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure SLA compliance.
• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and recovery operations.
• Manage CommServe DR backups and recovery procedures.
• Perform environment health checks and resolve backup infrastructure issues.
• Manage storage capacity and optimize backup infrastructure performance.
• Support Commvault migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure refresh activities.
• Work with SAN, NAS, disk-based backup, and cloud storage environments.
• Implement backup security, ransomware protection, retention, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, database, virtualization, and application teams.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience in Backup Administration.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery.
• Experience managing CommServe, Media Agents, Libraries, Storage Policies, and Deduplication Databases.
• Experience with backup and recovery for VMware, Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, SQL Server, Oracle, and file systems.
• Strong experience in backup monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Experience with disaster recovery operations and CommServe DR backups.
• Knowledge of SAN, NAS, disk-based backup, and cloud storage integration.
• Experience with Commvault upgrades, migrations, and environment maintenance.
• Understanding of backup security, ransomware protection, retention policies, and compliance.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience working in ITIL-based support environments.
• Commvault Professional Certification.
• Microsoft or VMware Certification.
