About The Role

As a Backend Engineer at Kinsure, you will play a key role in building and scaling the core backend systems of our insurtech platform. You will be responsible for developing secure, reliable, and high-performance services that support insurance operations, data processing, and seamless system integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with the Co-Founders to design and build a secure, scalable backend architecture.
Develop and maintain robust JSON-based RESTful APIs to support product features and third-party integrations.
Ensure high system reliability, data accuracy, and performance optimization.
Design, manage, and optimize databases (SQL or NoSQL) for transactional and operational insurance data.
Implement best practices in backend security, authentication, and data protection.
Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system performance.
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code aligned with engineering standards.
Contribute to technical planning and backend roadmap discussions.
Collaborate with frontend, product, and business teams to deliver scalable insurance solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
Strong experience building and maintaining JSON-based RESTful APIs.
Proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, or similar.
Experience with relational or non-relational databases and schema design.
Solid understanding of backend architecture, system scalability, and performance optimization.
Understanding of security best practices (authentication, authorization, data encryption).
Familiar with Git and collaborative development workflows.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Bonus:

Experience in fintech, insurtech, or other related industries.
Experience integrating with third-party payment gateways or insurance systems.
