Role : Backend Engineer (High-Performance Sports Analytics)

Overview

This project focuses on developing core functionality that enables leagues and clubs to identify top talent through structured user registration, tracking, and tagging workflows. You will work in a data-rich environment where performance, scalability, and security are critical, contributing to a platform used for advanced sports analytics and scouting.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable REST APIs using Ruby on Rails.
• Architect and optimize MySQL database schemas to efficiently manage complex data relationships.
• Collaborate closely with Frontend engineers to define API contracts and ensure efficient data exchange.
• Partner with Product teams to translate complex business requirements into reliable backend solutions.
• Monitor system health and diagnose performance issues using Sentry and Datadog.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across the platform.
• Actively participate in sprint ceremonies, including standups, planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
  
  
  

Requirements

Technical Experience

• Ruby on Rails: Minimum 5 years
• Databases (MySQL): Minimum 5 years
• REST API Development: Minimum 3 years
• Backend Testing: Minimum 3 years
• SaaS Experience: Minimum 5 years
  
  
  

Soft Skills & Business Experience

• Fluent technical English (Level 5).
• At least 2 years of experience working in Scrum teams.
• Experience collaborating with C-level stakeholders, Product, and QA teams.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative team.
• Experience operating within a mature engineering culture.
• Comfortable working in a matrix management structure.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a user-focused mindset.
  
  
  

Hardware & Compliance

• Hardware: Candidates should ideally use an Apple MacBook (minimum specifications: 14″ Pro, M2 or higher, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage) to support Jamf endpoint management.
• Compliance: Signing a confidentiality agreement and completing mandatory security training are required.
