About the role As a software engineer at the Core Banking team, you are the core of this venture, focused on building the industry?s most reliable and agile banking system by leveraging Mambu, one of the world?s leading cloud banking platforms in neo banks and challenger banks. Join us in shaping the future of Japan?s digital banking, making them easier, more user-friendly than ever. What you will do Immerse yourself in the world of digital banking. Mastering domains like deposits, loans, clearing and settlements, basic accounting, and local payment gateways. Proactively engage with product owners to align on requirements. Develop, test and deploy code with numerical precisions in handling monetary values, while satisfying non-functional quality gates on static code analysis, software composite analysis, SAST and DAST. Design and build loosely-coupled, high-performing, scalable, API-first micro-services that empowers business with agility. Strive for automation and continuous improvement such as API testing, etc. Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle. Share good ideas, knowledge and skills to enhance team dynamics by promoting culture of excellence, accountability and software engineering craftsmanship. Requirements Essential Strong hands-on experience in Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, SQL and messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka. Great test writing skills and experience in test automation. Hands-on experience in relational databases and/or non-relational databases including transaction management, query optimization, schema design. Solid understanding and hands-on experience in micro-service architecture, API design taking scalability, maintainability and supportability into consideration. Adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Comfortable in uncharted waters and ability to self-motivate. Experience in working under high pressure of critical production incidents or deadlines. Able to reproduce the issue in unit tests and dev environment, to find the root cause and deliver the fix quickly. Track record of acquiring domain knowledge deep enough to challenge requirements. (not necessarily in banking) Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Mindset to question status quo and critical thinking. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to articulate ideas clearly. Willingness to learn necessary domain knowledge and technologies. Embrace DevOps/DevSecOps culture. Understanding of CI/CD concepts and practices from dev to prod environments. Familiarity with developing cloud-native applications on one or more major cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP. Bachelor?s or master?s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Nice to have Experience in working at financial institutions, preferably in banking, or fintech companies. Introductory knowledge in accounting or double-entry bookkeeping. Knowledge in how a central clearing party and settlements work. Knowledge of the Japanese language is a plus. Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines from dev to production in the cloud.
