Role Overview:

As a Backend Developer at Chryselys, you will design and build the core systems and APIs that power mission-critical analytics products. Your work will directly impact system reliability, data integrity, performance, and security.

You will work closely with frontend, product, data, and cloud teams, owning backend services end-to-end and helping define backend engineering standards across the platform.

This is a core team role for engineers who think in systems and care deeply about production excellence.

Senior Backend Engineer — Roles & Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and scale backend systems while maintaining reliability and portability.

A. Product Development & Enhancement

Develop new backend services and APIs for evolving product needs
Enhance existing systems for:
Performance, scalability, and reliability
Support new use cases without breaking existing functionality
Align backend delivery with product milestones

B. Technical & Functional Ownership

Design and evolve:
Service architecture and system boundaries
Data models, caching, and async workflows
Continuously improve: Security, observability, and fault tolerance
Make informed trade-offs between speed, cost, and robustness
Ensure systems remain cloud-neutral and redeploy able

C. Engineering Quality & Production Ownership

Own backend systems in production: Monitoring, alerting, incident resolution
Reduce operational risk through refactoring and simplification
Improve deployment pipelines and operational tooling
Ensure backend systems become easier to change over time

KPIs – Senior Backend Engineer (Core)

Feature development & enhancement throughput
System reliability & performance trends
Incident reduction & recovery time
Long-term system maintainability

What You’ll Do

Build scalable, production-grade backend systems that support data-intensive workflows
Design and implement APIs powering web and mobile applications
Own reliability, performance, security, and availability of backend services
Architect and evolve microservices and event-driven systems with long-term scalability in mind

Tech Stack

Languages: Python / Node.js

APIs: REST APIs, Authentication & Authorization

Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Dynamo DB, Redis

Architecture: Microservices, event-driven systems

Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Lambda, API Gateway, AWS STEP Functions

Observability: Logging, monitoring, alerting

What You Bring:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent real-world experience
Experience: 3–8 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating production-grade backend systems using Python and/or Node.js
Skills:

– Strong backend fundamentals, data modeling, and API design

– Deep understanding of scalability, performance tuning, and security best practices

– Ability to take ownership of systems in production and make sound architectural decisions

Certifications: Not required — engineering depth matters more than credentials

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Advanced coursework or continuous learning in backend, distributed systems, or cloud engineering
Experience: Experience with analytics platforms, data-heavy systems, or SaaS products
Skills: Exposure to cloud-native architectures, event-driven design, and enterprise-grade backend patterns
