About the company

We are a seed-funded AI startup building next-generation AI solutions for the financial services industry. The founding team brings deep domain experience in financial services and has successfully built and exited a prior company. We are currently operating in stealth mode while building a production-grade AI platform for regulated financial workflows.

We’re building a governed AI platform for financial services — not an agent playground. At NextAlpha, AI is controlled, auditable, and predictable.If you like building systems that prevent bad things from happening, this role is for you.

What you’ll work on

• Backend systems that enforce data access rules (approved-only, tenant-isolated reads)
• Governance and policy checks (allow / deny decisions, refusal paths, reason codes)
• Internal admin tools for data approval, rollback, and feature control
• Backend APIs where correctness and auditability matter more than speed
• Working closely with senior backend, data, and AI engineers on platform foundations

What we’re looking for

• 2–3 years of backend engineering experience, ideally in B2B or scalable internal platforms
• Strong Node.js fundamentals and experience building REST APIs
• Hands-on experience with authorization, access control, or rule-based systems
• Exposure to multi-tenant systems or environments with strict data separation
• Experience building or maintaining scalable internal tools / admin panels
• Comfort working in constraint-heavy, correctness-first environments
• Ability to think through failure cases, invariants, and safe defaults
• Willingness to follow and implement non-negotiable system rules (not hack around them)

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, SaaS, or regulated domains
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and schema-backed systems
• Exposure to audit logging or compliance-adjacent features

This role is NOT

• A frontend role
• An AI / ML research role
• A feature-hacking startup role

This is a platform and governance engineering role.
