Role Description

This is a Python + Django Backend Developer role with 3–5 years of hands-on experience to own backend architecture, API performance, and infrastructure. This is a remote role focused on database design, API optimization, deployments, and DevOps pipelines on Vultr-based infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python + Django.
• Build, document, and optimize REST APIs for client applications.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexes for performance and scalability.
• Integrate and manage 3rd-party APIs and services.
• Own Vultr VPS backend deployment, including server setup, hardening, monitoring, and scaling.
• Implement and maintain secure backend practices (authentication, authorization, rate limiting, secrets management, logging, backup/restore).
• Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments.
• Use Docker for containerization and Kubernetes (or similar) for service management.
• Leverage AI-powered tools for code generation, reviews, testing, monitoring, and infra as code.
• Monitor application health and tune performance/costs.
• Write clean, testable code with unit/integration tests and documentation.

MUS HAVE SKILLS

• 3–5 years as Backend Engineer using Python + Django in production level applications.
• Strong Django ORM, migrations, middleware knowledge.
• RESTful API design and optimization.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) schema design and query optimization.
• Linux server management and VPS/cloud deployments (Vultr a plus).
• Hands-on Docker (Dockerfiles, containers, orchestration basics).
• Kubernetes knowledge (or quick ramp-up ability).
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
• Security best practices (SSL, SSH, firewalls, secrets, least privilege).
• Comfortable with AI tools in development workflows.
• Independent problem-solving and ownership mindset.

Nice to Have

• Celery/Redis or task queues.
• WebSockets or real-time communication.
• Microservices or modular monoliths.
• Observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Startup/SaaS/marketplace experience.
