We are seeking a highly experienced Principal AWS Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of a scalable, secure, and high‑performance enterprise data and integration platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is responsible for defining the end‑to‑end data and integration architecture, enabling analytics, event‑driven systems, and cloud‑native data platforms aligned with business objectives. The architect will play a key role in modernization, cloud adoption, and complex system integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Data & Integration Strategy

• Define the end‑to‑end AWS data and integration architecture covering ingestion, processing, storage, orchestration, consumption, and archival.
• Drive data platform modernization leveraging serverless, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
• Align architecture decisions with business goals, scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency.

Architectural Design

• Design and document conceptual, logical, and physical architectures using AWS services such as:
• Compute & Orchestration: Lambda, ECS, Step Functions
• Integration & APIs: API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge
• Data Storage: S3, DynamoDB, RDS/Aurora
• Networking: VPC, PrivateLink, NLB
• Streaming & Event‑Driven Data: Kinesis, EventBridge
• Data Lake & Analytics: S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift Serverless
• Define integration patterns (sync/async, pub‑sub, fan‑out, orchestration, choreography).

Platform Leadership

• Act as an SME for AWS data and integration services.
• Lead technical teams and mentor engineers across data engineering and integration projects.
• Review solution designs and enforce AWS Well‑Architected best practices.

Security & Governance

• Ensure all data and integrations adhere to security best practices including:
• IAM policies and least privilege
• Encryption at rest and in transit
• Secure VPC and private connectivity design
• Establish governance standards for data access, lifecycle, and compliance.

DevOps & Automation

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Automate deployments and environment provisioning across multiple AWS accounts.

Performance & Cost Optimization

• Monitor and optimize data pipelines and integrations for availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting using CloudWatch and observability tools.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve complex integration and data issues across AWS environments.

Required Skills

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in AWS cloud architecture, data platforms, and integration solutions.
• Proven experience designing serverless, microservices, and event‑driven architectures on AWS.

AWS Expertise

• Strong hands‑on experience with:
• Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions
• SQS, SNS, EventBridge
• ECS
• VPC, PrivateLink, NLB
• DynamoDB, S3, RDS/Aurora

Programming & Integration

• Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of integration patterns, retry strategies, idempotency, and failure handling.

DevOps & IaC

• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and deployment troubleshooting.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Preferred Skills

• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect – Professional, Data Analytics, or equivalent).
• Experience with streaming and real‑time data architectures.
• Exposure to hybrid or multi‑cloud data environments.
• Experience integrating analytics, reporting, or ML workloads with AWS data platforms.
