AWS Data Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Engineering & Platform Architecture

• Architect and lead development of scalable cloud data platforms on AWS – including S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions, and EC2
• Design and implement data models, dimensional schemas, and data lake architectures aligned to business use cases
• Build and maintain production ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, PySpark, SQL, and dBT
• Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across all production data assets

AWS Application Development

• Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-native applications integrating with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, and SNS
• Write high-quality application code using AWS SDKs and CLI, embedding best practices for security, scalability, and performance
• Implement serverless architectures and event-driven patterns to solve business problems

DevOps, CI/CD & Containerization

• Drive CI/CD automation using GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, and AWS Developer Tools (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy)
• Design and manage containerized workloads on ECS / EKS, ensuring reliable, repeatable deployments
• Define infrastructure and engineering standards, conduct design reviews, and mentor junior and senior engineers

Client Engagement & Production Ownership

• Act as the primary technical advisor to client and business stakeholders – translating complex requirements into delivery roadmaps
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents with a sense of urgency and ownership
• Manage identity, access, and security configurations using IAM and Amazon Cognito

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 5 – 7 years of hands-on experience spanning data engineering and AWS application development
• Proven experience operating in production-critical, client-facing environments
• Multi-stack fluency across Python, PySpark, SQL, dBT, and the broader AWS application ecosystem
• DevOps-aware mindset – pipelines and applications must be deployable, version-controlled, and repeatable
• Strong understanding of IAM, security best practices, and event-driven architectures
• Excellent communication skills – comfortable presenting technical decisions to business leadership
• Experience in a consulting/services delivery environment is strongly preferred
• AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification (or equivalent practical experience) is a plus

GOOD TO HAVE

• Experience with Databricks, Apache Airflow, or Kafka
• Familiarity with Talend or other ETL tools
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX)
• Exposure to Azure or GCP in addition to AWS
• GenAI or ML pipeline experience
• Life Sciences domain experience – pharma, biotech, or clinical data environments is a plus
