Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cost Optimization Engineer with a strong engineering background and deep expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure optimization, and distributed systems. The ideal candidate should be capable of driving cloud cost optimization initiatives while contributing hands-on to implementation across infrastructure and application layers.

The role requires someone who can balance cost, performance, scalability, and reliability while enabling engineering teams to adopt cost-efficient practices across AWS environments.

Roles & Responsibilities Architecture & Cost Optimization

• Drive cloud cost optimization strategies across AWS environments.
• Design scalable and cost-efficient architectures for distributed systems.
• Evaluate trade-offs between performance, scalability, and infrastructure cost.
• Identify opportunities to reduce overall cloud infrastructure footprint.
  
  

Hands-on Engineering Contribution

• Contribute to optimization implementations using Terraform, AWS CDK, and application-level changes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement cost-efficient solutions.
• Review and recommend improvements for existing infrastructure and workloads.
  
  

AWS Service Optimization

• Optimize AWS services including RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2, and ML workloads.
• Perform workload right-sizing and redesign initiatives.
• Improve utilization efficiency and reduce unnecessary resource consumption.
  
  

Database & Storage Optimization

• Improve PostgreSQL query performance, indexing, and database efficiency.
• Recommend storage lifecycle policies and cost-efficient storage strategies.
• Optimize database architecture for both performance and operational cost.
  
  

System Design & Architecture

• Work on event-driven and asynchronous system architectures.
• Guide teams on serverless vs serverful architecture decisions.
• Support modernization and optimization of distributed applications.
  
  

Observability & Monitoring Optimization

• Optimize CloudWatch and New Relic usage to reduce monitoring costs.
• Eliminate excessive logging, metrics, and alerting overhead.
• Improve observability practices while maintaining operational visibility.
  
  

Cost Governance & Enablement

• Implement cloud cost governance and engineering guardrails.
• Promote cost awareness across the software development lifecycle.
• Support development of cost visibility dashboards and tooling.
  
  

Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional engineering and platform teams.
• Drive adoption of cloud cost optimization best practices organization-wide.
• Mentor teams on sustainable and efficient cloud engineering practices.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong experience in AWS cloud architecture and distributed systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Terraform and AWS CDK.
• Deep understanding of RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and database optimization.
• Experience with Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2, and serverless architectures.
• Knowledge of event-driven and asynchronous systems.
• Exposure to FinOps concepts and cloud cost optimization frameworks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
