AWS Cloud Engineer

Iris's client, one of the Top 5 Bank in Canada is looking to hire an AWS Cloud Engineer for a long term contract opportunity.

Our Client is a Canadian multinational financial services company and the largest bank in Canada by market capitalization. The bank serves over 17 million clients and has more than 89,000 employees worldwide. Bank is serving individual consumers, small and middle market businesses and large corporations with a full range of banking, investing, asset management and other financial and risk-management products and services.

Position: AWS Cloud Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 2-3 Day onsite/week)

Duration: Long Term Open Ended Contract

Must have:

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK using TypeScript, producing reusable modules/constructs and reference architectures.
• Architect and implement AWS landing-zone aligned infrastructure patterns including networking (VPC, subnets, routing, endpoints), IAM/security boundaries, logging/monitoring, and container platforms.
• Build and operate container delivery patterns using ECS/Fargate, ECR, and secure runtime configuration (task roles, least privilege, secrets, encryption).

Must Have:

• 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in AWS infrastructure deployment and operations in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in AWS core services: IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, ECS/Fargate, S3, KMS, ECR.
• Proven, hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience using AWS CDK (building/maintaining constructs/stacks, CI/CD integration).
• Strong understanding of IAM least privilege, role-based access, and operational hygiene (inventory/tagging/attestation practices commonly expected in enterprise IAM role standards).
• Experience with GitOps and modern CI/CD approaches (PR-based change control, automated validation, environment promotion).

Optional / Nice to Have:

• Experience enabling AI/ML platforms using Amazon SageMaker
• Experience enabling GenAI workloads using Amazon Bedrock and associated governance/guardrail considerations.
