About the role -

The Associate Director - Category will be responsible for the overall business performance of assigned categories, including growth, profitability, selection, and customer experience. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams and merchant partners to drive category strategy, improve conversion, and ensure operational excellence. This is a business ownership role that requires strong commercial judgment, analytical thinking, and execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the P&L and business performance of the Smartphones category, including GMV, margins, growth, and customer experience
  • Build category growth plans through pricing, promotions, launches, targeted campaigns, and brand partnerships
  • Work closely with smartphone brands, distributors, and sellers to expand assortment and improve availability
  • Analyze pricing, competition, consumer demand, and market trends to drive category strategy
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to improve discovery, conversion, and purchase journeys
  • Partner with the Credit team to optimize EMI offers and financing levers that improve conversion
  • Drive inventory health, competitive pricing, fulfillment performance, and operational efficiency across the category
  • Monitor key business metrics and identify opportunities to improve sales, profitability, and experience


Qualifications:

  • 7-12 years in category management
  • At least 4 years within the Smartphones category at a leading ecommerce marketplace
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of pricing, margins, and commercial negotiations
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Self-starter with ownership mindset and strong execution skills
