Role Overview: The incumbent should be a versatile IT professional with 5-7 years of experience and strong technical capabilities. This is primarily an individual contributor role that demands a builder mindset, with responsibility for analysing business processes, translating them into technical requirements, and automating workflows using Python, RPA, or JavaScript in close collaboration with internal teams such as Operations, Admissions, Finance, Product Management, Content Development, and Academic functions, as well as external partners. The role also includes hands-on support for cloud operations across AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda) including basic Linux/Windows server administration and routine backup, storage, and restore activities.
Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (Operations, Admissions, Finance, Product, Content, Academic, etc.) to gather requirements, analyse business processes, and translate them into clear technical specifications and user stories.
- Coordinate with external vendors for project delivery — oversee development, change requests, issue resolution, and testing (using Zoho Desk, JIRA, Confluence).
- Support backlog management, ensuring alignment with business priorities and tracking progress against project timelines and dependencies.
- Execute in-house technical tasks, including developing automation scripts (Python, JavaScript, Shell), maintaining integrations, and resolving configuration-level issues.
- Provide hands-on support for cloud operations (AWS services, networking, system admin) and ensure smooth functioning of end-user application environments.
- Oversee technical quality, documentation, and compliance — review vendor deliverables, track KPIs (automation ROI, system stability), and maintain up-to-date wikis/runbooks.
Skill and Ability Requirements
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Python or JavaScript (Node.js or browser) for rapid development, scripting, and API-based integrations.
- Cloud and infrastructure: Working knowledge of AWS; familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible; basic understanding of networking concepts (VPC, subnets, security groups, VPN) and system administration (Linux/Windows).
- Core IT knowledge: Solid understanding of web applications, APIs, databases, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC) across dev/test/prod environments, with exposure to monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Application Insights, or similar).
- Proficiency with JIRA for work management and familiarity with documentation.
- Mandatory- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and communicate business needs clearly to vendors.
Qualification & Experience
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Certifications in cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) or automation tools; prior experience in a university or educational institution is an advantage but not mandatory.
Experience
- 5-7 years in IT development/support, technical coordination, or business–IT interface roles.
- Demonstrated experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
