EXPERIENCE (Years)

8–12 years of experience in product testing for commercial refrigeration (Deep Freezers, Visi Coolers or similar HVAC machines).

Role Summary

Person in this role will lead the commercial refrigeration testing lab for products such as Deep Freezers, Visi Coolers etc. The role is accountable for delivering accurate and traceable test results, driving product qualification and regulatory compliance, and partnering with R&D and Manufacturing to improve performance, reliability, safety, and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations NABL criteria, BEE/Energy Labeling (where applicable), RoHS, F-gas/refrigerant guidelines.
• Implement EHS in lab: refrigerant handling ((R32, R290, R410A etc.), flammability zones, ventilation, electrical safety.
• Conduct risk assessments for new test setups and special experiments.
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA), CAPA, and six-sigma/lean initiatives for product issues and test failures.
• Develop test plans for performance, energy, climatic and reliability evaluations (e.g., pull-down time, temperature uniformity, COP/EER, energy consumption, noise/vibration, door opening recovery, defrost performance, compressor cycling, insulation effectiveness).
• Define test conditions & environmental controls: climatic chambers, ambient temperature/humidity profiles, load patterns, thermostat settings, voltage variations, and stress tests.
• Ensure data integrity: test logs, calibration status, measurement uncertainty, repeatability/reproducibility, statistical analysis.
• Issue test reports with conclusions, deviations, and recommendations; present findings to R&D, QA, Manufacturing, and Product Management.
• Partner with Design & R&D team to validate new components (compressors, condensers, evaporators, controllers etc.)
• Support Supplier Quality for incoming part qualification and Manufacturing for line trials and first article inspections.
• Mentor and develop lab engineers/technicians; enforce discipline, 5S, and standardized work.
  
  

Essential Attributes

• NABL-accredited engineer with hands-on experience implementing systems in a testing lab.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration cycles, refrigerants and electrical safety.
• Demonstrated experience with energy performance testing, climatic testing, and reliability/stress tests
