Job Description

  • Legal Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Ensure full compliance with all applicable local, national, and international EHS laws and regulations in India (e.g., Factories Act, BOCW Act, Gujarat environmental regulations). Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities (DISH Gujarat, GPCB, PESO) for permits, licenses, and inspections. Monitor legislative changes and update policies proactively. Prepare and submit mandatory EHS reports. Oversee environmental aspects like waste and wastewater management.
  • Construction Safety Management: Oversee EHS policy implementation across all construction activities, ensuring adherence by internal teams and contractors. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and walk-throughs. Lead HAZID, risk assessments, and JSAs. Manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for high-risk tasks. Ensure proper PPE use and maintenance. Manage contractor EHS pre-qualification and performance. Implement systems for temporary works, scaffolding, and lifting operations.
  • Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement incident investigation procedures (including root cause analysis) for accidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses. Lead investigations, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions. Develop, implement, and test comprehensive Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) for various construction site scenarios, conducting regular drills.
  • Training & Culture Development: Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all personnel (induction, task-specific, refreshers). Promote a strong safety culture through communication, awareness campaigns, and employee engagement. Mentor junior EHS team members.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Establish effective communication channels with project management, site personnel, contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies. Facilitate EHS meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committees. Provide expert EHS advice and resolve concerns.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science (Environment or Fire Safety or Chemical) bachelor’s degree in engineering (Environmental, Mechanical, or Safety) or Environmental Science.
  • Graduate / Engineer (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.) with Diploma in Industrial Safety or equivalent.
  • Specialized Diploma: Post Diploma in Industrial Safety or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (e.g., MGLI/DGFASLI).
