Our technology services client is seeking multiple AS400 COBOL SME to join their team on a contract basis. These positions offer a strong potential for conversion to full-time employment upon completion of the initial contract period. Below are further details about the role: Role: AS400 COBOL SME Experience: 7-8 Years Location: PAN India Notice Period: Immediate- 15 Days Mandatory Skills: AS400, Cobol SME, DB2/ 400, IBM iSeries Job Description: Highly skilled and experienced AS400 COBOL SME to lead technical initiatives, support legacy systems, and contribute to modernisation efforts. Should have deep expertise in COBOL programming on the AS400 platform, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex business logic into technical documentation. Technical Skills Proficient in COBOL/400, ILE COBOL, CL/400, ILE CL, SQL/400 Strong experience with DB2/400 and IBM iSeries (AS400) Expertise in file handling, arrays, array search, and SORT file concepts Hands-on experience with interactive and batch debugging Solid understanding of relational data models and data flow across systems Familiarity with X-Analysis, Visual Studio IDE, and RDi Experience working with display files and subfiles (screens) Tools: IBM ACS, SEU, PDM Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and maintenance of COBOL programs on the AS400 platform. Analyse COBOL batch programs to extract business logic and document it in Business Requirement Documents (BRDs). Experience migrating legacy AS400 system to modern tech stack using AI efficiency would be expected Write and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and file handling routines. Perform interactive and batch debugging to resolve issues efficiently. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system enhancements and modernisation efforts. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers. Participate in code reviews, system testing, and deployment planning.
