Job Purpose - Lead and manage laboratory operations to ensure accurate analysis, timely reporting, calibration of analytical instruments, product certification, and technical support for refinery units. Oversee budget control, manpower optimization, method development, and compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Ensure full operability of analytical instruments and alignment with international testing protocols.

Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Technical Support
- Ensure 100% availability and accuracy of analytical instruments
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance of analytical instruments as per defined schedule
- Provide analytical support to processing units and Technical Services for product monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Handle issues related to finished products.
- Coordinate with Operations, Utility, ETP, CPP, Environment, Marketing/Dispatch, and PIT for sample scheduling, test runs, and field activities
- Develop alternate test methods and emergency field setups when required
- Prepare and monitor annual business and facilities plans
- Manage inventory of spares, chemicals, CRMs and consumables
- Develop indigenous vendor base for cost optimization
- Plan facility upgrades and equipment procurement
- Control manpower allocation and training schedules
- Coordinate with commercial and vendors for AMC, calibration, and equipment upgrades
- Ensure compliance with RIMS, NABL, LIMS, IT systems, and audit protocols
- Conduct internal audits, proficiency testing, and competency assessments
- Review and update SOPs based on ASTM, IP, UOP, ISO, BIS, APHA standards
- Lead internal audits, participate in external audits, and drive closure of non-conformities.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and PPE usage
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Implement EMS, OHSMS, and ISO 50001:2018 standards
- Coordinate hazardous/non-hazardous waste disposal
- Lead incident investigations and initiate safety-related plant changes
- Manage a team of 2–5 direct and 12–18 indirect reports
- Conduct performance reviews and skill assessments
- Organize training programs and ensure technical competency
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus
- Conduct training programs on new methods, safety practices, and quality systems
Educational Qualifications & Certifications
