They manage projects from conceptual sketches to final construction, including client consultations, developing blueprints using CAD/BIM software, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing site progress.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Planning: Create, edit, and finalize, conceptual, schematic, and detailed design drawings,, and construction documents using software like AutoCAD or Revit.Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and client expectations from inception to completion.Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers (structural, MEP) and contractors to ensure design integrity and feasibility.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to local, state, and federal building codes, zoning bylaws, and safety regulations.Client Management: Meet with clients to define project requirements and present design proposals.Site Supervision: Visit construction sites to verify progress, resolve design issues, and ensure compliance with plans. Required Skills and QualificationsEducation: A professional degree in architecture (Bachelor's or Master's).Licensure: State-licensed or registered architect (often required for senior roles).Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in CAD and BIM software (Revit, AutoCAD), modeling tools (SketchUp), and design software.Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction materials, building technology, and structural systems.Skills: Exceptional spatial visualization, creativity, attention to detail, and communication skills. Typical Work EnvironmentArchitects primarily work in offices, but frequently travel to project sites for inspection and meetings. The role often requires long hours and, at times, more than 40 hours per week, especially to meet deadlines.
