Job Title: Application Engineer – Industrial Applications (Pellet 3D Printing)

Job Summary

We are looking for an Application Engineer focused on developing real-world industrial applications using pellet-based 3D printing systems.

This role is customer-facing and solution-driven, involving:

  • Understanding customer requirements
  • Identifying suitable materials & processes
  • Developing prototypes (3D printing + machining finishing)


Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Requirement Understanding

  • Interact with customers across industries:
  • Foundry
  • Automotive
  • Pharma
  • Manufacturing
  • Understand:
  • Functional requirements
  • Mechanical properties needed
  • Surface finish & tolerance expectations

2. Application Development

  • Identify suitable applications for pellet 3D printing such as:
  • Foundry patterns & molds
  • Jigs & fixtures
  • Large functional prototypes
  • Low-volume production parts
  • Suggest design modifications for manufacturability (DfAM)


3. Material Selection & Validation

  • Select appropriate materials:
  • PP, PE, ABS, PLA, PETG
  • Filled materials (glass fiber, carbon fiber)
  • Define requirements for:
  • Strength
  • Heat resistance
  • Chemical resistance

4. Prototype Development Workflow

  • Coordinate internally for:
  • 3D printing of parts
  • Perform / coordinate:
  • Post-processing (machining, finishing, drilling, fitting)
  • Ensure final part meets:
  • Dimensional accuracy
  • Surface finish requirements

5. Sample Development & Demonstration

  • Develop application samples for:
  • Customer validation
  • Exhibitions
  • Marketing & social media
  • Present solutions clearly to customers


6. Documentation & Case Studies

  • Create:
  • Application case studies
  • Before/after comparisons
  • Cost & time benefits vs conventional methods
  • Build a library of industrial use cases


Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of:
  • 3D printing applications
  • Engineering materials (plastics preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of:
  • Manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, etc.)
  • Ability to read:
  • Engineering drawings
  • 3D CAD models


Preferred (Bonus) Skills

  • Experience in:
  • Industrial product development
  • Tooling / fixtures / foundry patterns
  • Exposure to:
  • Polymer materials (PP, PE, composites)
  • Understanding of:
  • Post-processing (CNC machining, finishing)


Educational Qualification

  • B.E / B.Tech in:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Production Engineering
  • Polymer Engineering


Experience

  • 1-3 years in:
  • Product development
  • Application engineering
  • Manufacturing / tooling / prototyping


Key Traits
