I?m looking for a API Developer (Ruby on Rails) to join us. We are looking for a skilled API Developer with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and a deep understanding of API design and implementation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, optimising, and maintaining scalable APIs while ensuring security, performance, and reliability. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Ruby on Rails. Implement core API features including authentication, authorisation, throttling, caching, logging, and monitoring. Ensure APIs are scalable, secure, and follow best practices in design and documentation. Integrate APIs with internal and external systems, ensuring high performance and reliability. Collaborate with product managers and other backend developers to deliver end-to-end solutions. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise APIs for performance and scalability. Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture improvements. Required Skills & Experience Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails with proven API development experience. Solid understanding of API fundamentals ? authentication, rate limiting/throttling, request validation, versioning, and error handling. Hands-on experience with at least one API Gateway (Kong, Apigee, or equivalent). Knowledge of RESTful best practices, OpenAPI/Swagger, and API documentation tools. Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) Strong debugging, optimisation, and problem-solving skills.
