A typical day in your role at Jet2TT:
Key Responsibilities:
Data and Self-Service Analytics Support:
- Ensure clear entry points for users and provide business guidance on data and analytics tools and services.
- Own and continuously improve the business-facing documentation strategy, maintaining a comprehensive knowledge base (FAQs, common query patterns, SLAs) and ensuring it remains current and relevant.
- Provide senior-level troubleshooting and technical leadership on complex analytics, reporting, and data platform issues, independently driving problem resolution across Tableau, Snowflake, and notebook-based analytics environments
- Define, monitor, and refine KPIs for support performance (e.g., resolution times, first-contact resolution rates) and present insights to stakeholders to drive service improvements.
Platform Access and User Management:
- Oversee user access governance, assisting with access requests, and ensuring compliance with organizational security and data governance policies.
- Review the delivery of training resources to help business users become proficient in self-service analytics tools and platforms (e.g., BI tools, data apps).
- Provide high-level troubleshooting and guide the team on complex issues, ensuring seamless user experience and escalating when necessary.
Guidance Templates and Resources:
- Create, publish, and maintain comprehensive guides and business-oriented documentation within the Data Hub to empower users with self-service analytics.
- Develop and embed best practices in self-service analytics workflows, coaching both users and junior team members to achieve maximum value from tools and data assets.
- Advocate strongly for data literacy, mentoring business teams and internal stakeholders on interpreting data and applying analytics insights to strategic decision-making.
Proof of Concept (PoC) Solution Co-Development and Governance:
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate objectives into data requirements and provide senior-level guidance on developing technical and platform specific proof-of-concept (PoC) analytics solutions.
- Gather feedback from users on their experience with self-service analytics platforms, identifying areas for improvement.
- Help optimize workflows and processes to improve platform usability, including migration of legacy solutions to supported platforms.
- Assist in customizing analytics solutions to meet business-specific needs and ensure maximum value is derived from the tools.
- Support and advise on data governance initiatives, ensuring controlled data access, regulatory compliance, and high-quality data stewardship practices.
- Act as a liaison between business teams and technical owners to address data integration gaps and proactively resolve data quality issues.
- Oversee testing and evaluation of new platform features, producing recommendations and influencing product roadmaps where relevant.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:
- Proactively identify and implement improvements to the self-service analytics ecosystem, leveraging platform usage analytics, user feedback, and technical expertise to improve performance, adoption, scalability, and business value.
- Keep the team informed of emerging trends in BI tools, data management, and analytics methods, and drive initiatives that align with industry best practices.
- Act as a senior point of contact to remove barriers to adoption, championing process changes or escalations as needed.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, mentoring junior specialists, and promoting strong partnerships between business users, technical teams, and leadership.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience (Candidate Requirements):
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Data Platforms, with demonstrated success delivering complex analytical solutions, enabling self-service analytics, and influencing outcomes across large, matrixed organizations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working with:
- Cross‑regional and business teams (e.g., US, UK, Europe),
- Senior management, technology leaders, and business stakeholders,
- Wider data teams, engineers, and self‑service users.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and networks through forums, user groups, or cross‑functional initiatives.
- Experience in identifying and addressing skills and development needs - both personally (continuous learning) and in guiding/mentoring peers.
- Ability to coach and support colleagues, providing technical guidance and peer review on tasks and projects.
- Proven problem‑solving and critical thinking skills, able to break down activities, manage dependencies, and plan capacity effectively.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, Python, and Tableau, including designing data models, developing analytical solutions, optimizing performance, and supporting enterprise-scale reporting and self-service analytics environments.
- Good understanding of leveraging machine learning algorithms in analytical solutions.
- Familiarity with self‑service analytics tools (e.g., Hex or notebook‑based solutions) and a willingness to drive adoption and best practices.
- Working knowledge of Agile frameworks and ability to work within iterative delivery models.
- Strong focus on process management and improvement, with experience in:
- Executing within agreed governance,
- Identifying optimisation opportunities,
- Contributing to new or improved processes.
- Knowledge of data privacy laws, security protocols, and governance frameworks, ensuring compliance across individual and team levels.
- Business User‑centric mindset, with the ability to translate requirements into solutions and provide excellent support to end users.
