Job Description – Airborne Senior Software Development Engineer

Location: Chennai, India

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Airborne System Software.
• Develop and maintain scalable, modular, fault-tolerant, and portable software for Gogo Airborne Broadband Systems running on Embedded Linux platforms.
• Support WAN technologies including ATG, ATG4, Ku, 2Ku, etc
• Conduct technical design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, and system testing.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering and Architecture teams to understand and implement evolving requirements.
• Work with Product Management teams on product roadmap and business objectives.
• Interface with Operations teams to support business continuity and system reliability.
• Provide technical leadership to software development teams in an Embedded Linux environment.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Embedded Linux software development.
• Strong Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and implementation skills.
• Strong programming and debugging skills in:
• Java
• C++
• Python
• Strong knowledge of IP Networking Protocols and Technologies.
• Experience with Database and Web Technologies.
• Experience in Agile Development (Stories & Sprints).
• Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Test Automation methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Polyglot programming experience.
• Virtualization and containerization:
• Docker
• KVM
• VirtualBox
• Microservices architecture and event-driven system design.
• Knowledge of Software Performance Measurement and System Performance Analysis.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as:
• Jenkins
• Spinnaker
• Experience developing products for FAA-regulated aviation environments.
