Job Purpose

Role is responsible for coordinating automation related activities, including breakdown and preventive maintenance, implementation of corrective actions and system modifications and conception, raising CP and implementation of capital projects and ensuring safe operations for Zone 3. Ensuring compliance to ISO 9001 & 14001 and OHSAS 18001 procedures for all activities related to this function.

To ensure that the machines operate with good reliability, routine checking of network, PLC & HMI services, Drives and take corrections/corrective actions on abnormalities observed during the routine checks.

As the existing systems are relatively old this position is accountable to find out weaknesses and potential risks in the system and plan to remove them.

Responsible for the procurement & installing the sensors for digitization of the plant. These sensors will be used for data analysis. To implement, enhance and maintain the system, database & functionalities of the digitalization systems of the plant. All the Capex related projects & development work for data bases, data analytics & monitoring are to be implemented by this position.

The focus is to implement digital initiatives and look for the opportunities for the improvement through digitalization. This job position is the Digital Ambassador for the plant.

Job Context

Analyzing the breakdowns with tools like why-why analysis to arrive at corrective and preventive actions and one-point lessons and ensure compliance to decided actions as per plan.

Make & implement small modifications in the systems & logic to improve the performance from operation, maintenance, energy or safety point of view, arrange for the requisite materials and implement them.

Planning of Capex- raise CP, seek approval, finalize technical specifications, assist in commercial negotiations, arrange for the procurement of materials as required, implement the projects as per the technical and operational requirements and validate the projects against the original plan.

Get feedback from operators and maintenance team on unsafe conditions existing, investigate accidents, near miss incidents and environment incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Impart training on digital platforms and work on digital platforms to make them user-friendly.

Fully support major projects in the zone to help in trouble free commissioning and operations.

Modify the logic for operations, if necessary, to improve operation and quality performances.

Look for the opportunities of improvement through Digital initiatives and implement them.

Job Challenges

Acquiring knowledge on the operation and function of components of some machines.

Ensuring availability of spares for equipment’s at the same time maintaining the expenses within budget.

Recycle & repair spares wherever proper spares are not available in the market for the machines, which are old, and spares are obsolete.

Upgrade equipment’s with proper planning and technical inputs to ensure improved performance and better reliability are achieved.

Acquiring expertise on the various components of Digitization. Maintaining the up-time of digital platforms to avoid data loss.
