Role Overview

This role goes beyond traditional procurement.

We are looking for someone who can build a strong, direct farm-to-factory sourcing ecosystem while also working closely with farmers to improve yield, quality, and sustainability.

What this really means is:

You’re not just buying coconuts you’re helping farmers grow better coconuts.

The role combines procurement, field engagement, and farm advisory, with a long-term vision of building a resilient, traceable, and sustainable supply chain.

1. Farmer Network Development & Agricultural Tie-Ups

  • Build and scale direct partnerships with farmers, FPOs, and local aggregators
  • Develop long-term sourcing agreements for consistent supply and pricing stability
  • Identify and onboard high-potential coconut-growing clusters

2. Sustainable Farming Advisory (Core Differentiator)

  • Work with farmers to improve yield without heavy chemical dependency
  • Promote regenerative and low-input farming practices
  • Guide farmers on:
  • Intercropping models (banana, cocoa, pepper, etc.)
  • Efficient irrigation methods (drip, water optimization)
  • Soil health improvement and natural inputs
  • Best harvesting practices for quality and shelf life
  • Encourage circular practices like:
  • Using coconut husk and fiber back into the farm (mulching, soil moisture retention)
  • Act as a knowledge bridge, not just a buyer

3. Raw Material Sourcing & Vendor Management

  • Source coconuts and other materials directly from farms and mandis
  • Reduce dependency on intermediaries by strengthening direct channels
  • Build and maintain a reliable supplier base across key regions

4. Procurement Planning & Operations

  • Plan procurement based on crop cycles and production demand
  • Ensure timely aggregation and dispatch to processing units
  • Track daily procurement volumes and maintain structured records

5. Quality Control at Source

  • Conduct quality checks at farm gates and aggregation points
  • Work with farmers to improve grading and consistency
  • Reduce rejection rates through proactive sourcing and feedback

6. Cost Optimization & Negotiation

  • Negotiate fair, transparent, and sustainable pricing
  • Track mandi rates and local trends
  • Balance cost efficiency with long-term farmer relationships

7. Logistics & On-Ground Coordination

  • Manage transport from farms/mandis to factory
  • Handle real-time field challenges (delays, shortages, quality issues)
  • Ensure smooth last-mile procurement operations

8. Market Intelligence & Expansion

  • Track crop patterns, seasonality, and yield forecasts
  • Identify new sourcing regions and expansion opportunities
  • Provide insights for risk mitigation and supply planning
