Role Description

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Sourcing for Men’s Apparels will oversee all aspects of men’s apparel sourcing and supplier management. The role will involve vendor identification, price negotiations, quality control, and ensuring delivery timelines. The AGM will monitor market trends, collaborate with design and merchandising teams to forecast demand, and maintain relationships with suppliers to guarantee quality and compliance. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Kanpur.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Sourcing
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for garments, fabrics, trims, and accessories.
  • Identify and onboard reliable domestic and international suppliers.
  • Build strong vendor partnerships to ensure long-term collaboration.
Vendor Management
  • Evaluate and select vendors based on cost, quality, compliance, and delivery capabilities.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms with suppliers.
  • Conduct vendor performance reviews and ensure continuous improvement.
Product Development Support
  • Work closely with design and merchandising teams to source appropriate fabrics and materials.
  • Support sampling, costing, and product development processes.
  • Ensure materials meet product specifications and quality standards.
Cost Management
  • Monitor raw material costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain competitive pricing while ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking with market standards.
Supply Chain Coordination
  • Coordinate with production, planning, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitor order progress from sampling to bulk production.
  • Resolve sourcing or supply chain disruptions proactively.
Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure vendors comply with company standards and international compliance requirements.
  • Work with QA teams to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Monitor ethical sourcing and sustainability standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes
  • Experience in fabric sourcing and vendor negotiations
  • Understanding of global sourcing markets (India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, China)
  • Costing and price negotiation expertise
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Supply chain and inventory planning knowledge
  • Excellent communication and vendor relationship management

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in sourcing, supplier negotiation, and supply chain management, particularly in the apparel or fashion industry.
  • Strong knowledge of market trends, cost analysis, and production processes for men's apparel.
  • Experience in quality control, adherence to compliance standards, and overseeing vendor compliance.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to work in an on-site role and manage a fast-paced environment in a result-oriented manner.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Technology, Fashion Design, Business Management, or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience working in sourcing or procurement roles, with leadership experience preferred.
