Job Description: An Accountant for a Government Infrastructure Company manages public funds, project-specific financial reporting, cost control, and tax compliance. Key duties include auditing expenditures, project budgeting, financial statement preparation, and ensuring adherence to Government Accounting Standards (GAGAS). Proficiency in ERP systems, contract management, and strong analytical skills are typically required. Key Job Responsibilities

• Project Accounting: Creating project accounts, maintaining records of contracts, and managing change orders.
• Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Assisting in the preparation of daily, monthly, and yearly financial statements, MIS reports, and budgetary monitoring.
• Cost Control: Analyzing project-related expenses (labor, materials, overheads) to identify variances and ensure cost reductions.
• Compliance & Audit: Preparing tax returns (including VAT/GST), ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Government Accounting Standards (GAGAS), and supporting internal/external audits.
• Transactions & Reconciliation: Handling vendor invoices, bank reconciliations, payroll, and updating the general ledger.
• Project Close-out: Closing out project accounts upon completion.
  
  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or finance; CPA or CA certification is highly preferred.
• Experience: 3 to 10 years of experience, preferably in construction, infrastructure, or government sectors.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), accounting software, and MS Excel.
• Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of tax regulations, and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with project managers.
  
  

Physical Requirements & Work Setting

• Standard office work, occasionally involving site visits with exposure to dust and construction environments
