Role Description The Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Delhi, India, supporting the financial operations of the Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, Bihar. The role includes managing day-to-day accounting activities such as recording financial transactions, preparing vouchers, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling bank statements. The Accountant will assist in preparing budgets, financial reports, and statutory submissions, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and government guidelines. Responsibilities also include monitoring expenditures against allocations, supporting internal and external audits, and maintaining accurate documentation for all financial activities. The role requires close collaboration with departmental teams to provide financial data and support decision-making.
Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial record-keeping.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Experience in budget preparation, financial reporting, and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Understanding of public sector or government financial procedures and compliance requirements (preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to manage deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
  • Prior experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within an educational or government organization.
