Job Description – Accessibility Test Engineer (Automation)

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (Hybrid)

Experience: 5–7 Years

About The Role

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Accessibility Test Engineer with 5–7 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Quality Engineering. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in WCAG accessibility standards, assistive technologies, accessibility automation tools, and a proven ability to ensure digital products are inclusive and compliant.

A valid IAAP CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies) certification is mandatory for this role. Candidates with experience in accessibility automation and remediation support will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Accessibility Testing & Compliance

  • Perform accessibility audits and testing for web, mobile, and desktop applications.
  • Validate compliance against WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level A & AA, Section 508, and ADA standards.
  • Conduct accessibility reviews throughout the SDLC to identify and mitigate accessibility issues early.
  • Prepare accessibility assessment reports, defect reports, and VPAT documentation.

Accessibility Automation

  • Develop and maintain accessibility automation suites using tools such as Axe, Accessibility Insights, WAVE, Lighthouse, or similar.
  • Integrate accessibility testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Analyse automated scan results and collaborate with development teams on remediation activities.
  • Improve accessibility test coverage through automation frameworks and best practices.

Manual Accessibility Validation

  • Perform testing using assistive technologies including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and keyboard-only navigation.
  • Validate semantic HTML, ARIA implementation, focus management, colour contrast, and responsive accessibility requirements.
  • Execute regression and functional accessibility testing across multiple browsers and devices.

Collaboration & Quality Engineering

  • Work closely with Product Owners, UX Designers, Developers, and QA teams to ensure accessibility requirements are incorporated from design through delivery.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, reviews, and defect triage meetings.
  • Provide accessibility guidance and recommendations to stakeholders and development teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Quality Assurance.
  • Mandatory: IAAP CPACC Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 Guidelines
    • Section 508, ADA accessibility standards
    • WAI-ARIA, Semantic HTML, CSS
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack
    • Axe, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, Lighthouse, CCA
  • Experience in accessibility automation and automated accessibility scanning.
  • Understanding of Agile, SDLC, STLC, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar test management tools.
Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
  • Experience integrating accessibility testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to mobile accessibility testing across Android and iOS platforms.
  • DHS Trusted Tester certification is an added advantage.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
